Dugald Wells, P.Eng., President
Dugald Wells first traveled to the Arctic more than 20 years ago as a research scientist aboard Canadian government icebreakers. As many before have done, he quickly fell under the magical spell of the Arctic. He developed an intimate knowledge of the land and it’s peoples, and yearned to share this with others. With Cruise North, he brings his commitment to the environment and peoples of the north to a new level. Reaching far beyond the lip service that is sometimes paid to the idea of protections for the environment and indigenous cultures, Dugald has formed a company that is majority owned by the Inuit people, and will be operated by and for their direct benefit. As stakeholders, it is naturally in their interest to protect the environment and cultural traditions that are the principal assets of their business.
| Jessie Annanack, Inuit Culture Guide
“Many people misunderstand our culture. Every time I help a passenger understand, I learn more about myself and our community.”
Jessie was born and raised in Kuujjuaq. She comes from a large family of ten sisters and brothers. The children were raised as a traditional-style family learning to survive in a fast, modern world while balancing part of the “old” way of living. As a student, Jessie has worked for various Nunavik organizations in different fields all for the advancement of the region. She participates in the language preservation group on a voluntary basis, and organizes cultural events such as artistic workshops.
| Bruce Qinuajuak, Inuit Field Guide
Bruce lives in the small Hudson Bay town of Akulivik. “I can share the knowledge of living with the land - pass that on. It makes me happy when people look at my home differently because of me. And, I get to experience cultures I would have never been able to without Cruise North.”

| Benoit Havard, Cruise North Adventurer/Interpreter
From: Quebec
Benoit was raised in Montreal, but always felt best in his family cottage in the country. Overcoming cerebral palsy as a child, Benoit became a cross-country skiing and winter sport enthusiast. At 24 he got rid of all his things, took $280 and went on a world tour. Teaching cross-country skiing and mountain biking, he managed to travel across Europe. From there, Benoit and his dog Misha travelled around the world by bicycle. For two years they traversed the icy climes through Finland, Russia and across the Bering Straight into Alaska, and south through the Yukon. His next big adventure came in the form of para-skiing. He has Para-skied across Canada's north, going from community to community, making lifelong friends. This inspired him to launch the company Kunoki, which teaches para-skiing to people in the North.
