Overview
Come on a sailing adventure of a lifetime aboard the Stephen Taber, America's Good Luck Ship! The Schooner Stephen Taber is the oldest documented sailing vessel in continuous service in the United States, a National Historic Landmark. The Taber operates three, four, and six-day sailing vacations off the coast of Maine. The Schooner Stephen Taber sails around the Penobscot Bay, exploring its beautiful waters, islands and wildlife. This historic windjammer was built in 1871 and still has no inboard engine. A trip on the Taber offers people a uniquely authentic adventure rarely experienced in this day and age. Passengers can help sail the boat if they wish or they can sit, read and take in the magnificent beauty of the Maine coast. The Taber is 68 feet on deck and carries 22 passengers with five crew.
Whether charging across the bay with a steady following breeze or just ghosting along with a late-afternoon zephyr, you will thrill to being a part of this extraordinary sailing adventure.
All meals are prepared on the galley's 1910 vintage woodstove and are guaranteed to hit the spot. Freshly baked breads, homemade stews and chowders, fresh local seafood and Maine blueberry pancakes are all a part of life on the Taber. The highlight of each trip is the Downeast all-you-can-eat lobster bake cooked and served on a secluded beach.
