Worldwide Ecolodges operates tours and packages specializing in natural destinations and cultural attractions using the best available green travel services. Their focus since 2002 has been to provide high quality, personalized tours for two or more using private guides and drivers. Occasionally, Worldwide mixes in some set tours with small groups. They deal primarily with travel agents’ clients who are seeking some customization to one of Worldwide’s destinations, however more and more people are choosing predesigned tours.

Worldwide has a small team of destination specialists with years of both industry and personal travel experience. They all work independently so clients truly receive personal attention.

While tours are not in what would be called a budget category, Worldwide Ecolodges’ programs are still very well priced. The range of ecotourism products has grown immensely so they can also satisfy very discriminating tastes. Worldwide has worked with families, small groups, couples, single women, movie personalities, and many traveling friends.

If two or three couples can travel together, Worldwide can often offer a substantially lower price. Families also work well. (It depends a lot on the actual program and what types of vehicles are available.)

Usually, Worldwide just needs to modify the predesigned programs to fit your needs, but they are also quite able and willing to work up a complete program from scratch. There is no extra cost to create completely new tours, but Worldwide does ask for a small retainer of $50, which is then applied to your final tour balance. (For groups of four or more, the retainer is waived.)

Worldwide Ecolodges will then work with you or your travel agent to tailor programs around your interests, your abilities, your budget, and your time frame using the best and most environmentally friendly hotels, plus Worldwide’s own network of ecolodges, local drivers and private guides. Once the program is satisfactory, they will start the deposit and booking process and you can start looking forward to a great trip.

Group Size?
Worldwide Ecolodges specializes in privately guided, custom programs. This makes your trip planning very flexible – you can arrive almost any day to take advantage of best airfares or personal interests. These programs operate with two people and a driver guide. They also offer some tours that have set dates that will operate with a minimum of 4 people, to a maximum of 16.

Fitness and Mobility Requirements: Mild to Medium
The majority of Worldwide’s trips are lightly active requiring no special level of fitness. You must be able to walk without assistance as all programs involve walking on uneven surfaces such as exploring a historical site or a forest trail. They also do offer more active programs like sea kayaking, walking and trekking tours, but you never have to carry a loaded backpack as Worldwide always provides porters or luggage transfers.

Rainforest Alliance Program
The Rainforest Alliance Organization is an NGO that promotes the sustainability of the world’s rainforest ecosystems. They created the Forest Stewardship Council to create a labeling and monitoring program for sustainably harvested wood products and lately have created a similar program for tourism. Worldwide Ecolodges has signed an agreement with the Rainforest Alliance Organisation to support their programs for training and certification of Sustainable Tourism in the Americas. This means that they are bound to use locally sustainable tourism providers in each of the regions the Rainforest Alliance has started to certify tourism providers.
